A visitor’s visa is required for tourist visits to Chile. The Chilean visa application process has become simplified but you must apply for and secure this visa in your home country before travelling. It is not possible to apply for this visa in Chile. You can visit this PAGE to see what the application form looks like. Fill all required spaces and upload all the documents in the checklist and then submit your visa. Be sure not to miss any document. This is a summary of all you will need: A scanned copy of your passport (only the photo page is needed). The passport must be valid for at least 18 months. If your passport will expire soon, we recommend you renew it before applying. A professional passport-size photo. This must be recent. A cover letter. In the letter, introduce yourself, explain who you are, what you do, and state your reasons for planning to visit Chile. Also explain if you have any bond in Chile before. An invitation letter from a contact person in Chile detailing the address you will live in. Please provide full name and phone number of your contact person in Chile. A criminal record certificate from the appropriate ministry in your country showing you have not been convicted of a crime before. A contagious disease clearance certificate. This must be signed by a registered medical practitioner and dated within 30 days prior to your application. The certificate must certify you are free of any contagious diseases and in good health for your upcoming travel to Chile. Do not submit the medical results, just the letter of the medical practitioner/centre confirming that you are free of contagious diseases. No X-rays are required. A certificate of kinship. You need to submit this in case you already have a relative living in Chile (child or spouse). Proof of funds or income. Your visa might allow you to get a job in Chile, however, you need to show proof that you have enough funds to finance your trip. Flight ticket/flight itinerary. There is no need to confirm flight tickets before the visa has been granted. You can provide a one-way flight booking. However, you need to provide a valid itinerary. Nigerians traveling to Chile for business must first secure a business visa. All documents submitted for the process of securing this visa must be originals or certified (notarized) copies. Documents provided by the applicant must be obtained only from accredited sources and departments. Business travelers coming to invest in Chile, as well as entrepreneurs intending to set up a business in the country, may be issued a temporary residence visa. This permit allows them to live in the country for a specified period of time. The temporary residence visa will allow you to live one year in the country and also apply for a work permit. After one year, you may apply for a permanent residency permit, provided that you are still maintaining your investment or business. When applying for a permanent visa you must attach to your application a letter stating why you want to become a Chilean permanent resident and your ties with the country. You will need the following documents for your business visa application: A certified copy of your passport Two passport-sized photographs Proof of income (what you earn) Documents certifying type of industry Proof of net worth Certified copy of Business License or Incorporation documents (if applicable) Proof of V.A.T. payment (if applicable) Employee payroll (if applicable) Original or certified copy of marriage certificate (if applicable) Original or certified copy of birth certificate (if applicable) Affidavit of support for dependents All the documents should be uploaded online. Whether you are coming to Chile for study, internship or research, you will need a visa. Application for the Chilean student visa starts online. You should be careful when filling the online application form as conflicting information can lead to your visa being denied. Also carefully upload all listed documents in their correct order and format. Afterwards, print the completed form and send to your nearest Chile Embassy alongside your valid passport and other supporting documents by courier. Be mindful that any missing documentation will cause a delay in your visa process. Usually, applicants will receive the outcome of their application within 15 to 20 working days. You will need to gather the following documents for your application: A valid passport. The passport must be valid for at least six months after the date of departure from Chile. One passport-sized photograph. The picture must be clear, recent, and taken against white background. Visa application form. The form must be filled in English, and typed—not handwritten. A signed confirmation letter from the school or university in Chile offering the admission. This letter of confirmation of admission must contain the complete details of the applicant (name, course title and duration, etc) and also the contact details of that institution. A visa request letter from the agency arranging the exchange (if applicable). This letter must provide the full name of the applicant, school the applicant will attend in Chile, details of placement in Chile and name of the agency's contact person in Chile. A contagious diseases-clearance certificate. This certificate must be signed by a registered medical practitioner and must be issued within 30 days prior to the date of application. The certificate has to confirm that you are free from any contagious diseases/ illnesses before traveling to Chile. This is just a regular medical check (done with blood and urine samples, no xrays) to ensure you have no contagious diseases. A police clearance statement showing you have no criminal record. Applicants under 18 will need to submit a parental travel authorization. This document is a statement made by the parents/custodian that will cover you to travel in and out of Chile for as long as your student visa will be granted. The Chilean student visa is valid for a minimum of 6 months and needs to be renewed after a year. At the time of writing this article, it costs $200 to process this visa.
