Student Visa from Nigeria to Chile
- Whether you are coming to Chile for study, internship or research, you will need a visa.
- Application for the Chilean student visa starts online. You should be careful when filling the online application form as conflicting information can lead to your visa being denied.
- Also carefully upload all listed documents in their correct order and format. Afterwards, print the completed form and send to your nearest Chile Embassy alongside your valid passport and other supporting documents by courier.
- Be mindful that any missing documentation will cause a delay in your visa process.
- Usually, applicants will receive the outcome of their application within 15 to 20 working days.
- You will need to gather the following documents for your application:
- A valid passport. The passport must be valid for at least six months after the date of departure from Chile.
- One passport-sized photograph. The picture must be clear, recent, and taken against white background.
- Visa application form. The form must be filled in English, and typed—not handwritten.
- A signed confirmation letter from the school or university in Chile offering the admission. This letter of confirmation of admission must contain the complete details of the applicant (name, course title and duration, etc) and also the contact details of that institution.
- A visa request letter from the agency arranging the exchange (if applicable). This letter must provide the full name of the applicant, school the applicant will attend in Chile, details of placement in Chile and name of the agency's contact person in Chile.
- A contagious diseases-clearance certificate. This certificate must be signed by a registered medical practitioner and must be issued within 30 days prior to the date of application.
- The certificate has to confirm that you are free from any contagious diseases/ illnesses before traveling to Chile. This is just a regular medical check (done with blood and urine samples, no xrays) to ensure you have no contagious diseases.
- A police clearance statement showing you have no criminal record.
- Applicants under 18 will need to submit a parental travel authorization. This document is a statement made by the parents/custodian that will cover you to travel in and out of Chile for as long as your student visa will be granted.
- The Chilean student visa is valid for a minimum of 6 months and needs to be renewed after a year.
- At the time of writing this article, it costs $200 to process this visa.
