Malaysia Business Visa for Nigerians- Application Requirements

Malaysia is an Asian country that regularly attracts visitors from around the world for both tourist and business reasons alike and Nigeria is not left out. In fact, Nigeria is Malaysia's second-largest trading partner among African countries, after South Africa. It is believed that Nigerians feel like it is easier to engage in commercial activities and succeed in Malaysia thus the high travel rate. This has made it more important for Nigerians to get adequate information on what it takes to obtain a Malaysia Business Visa.

The Malaysian business visa which was initially not available to Nigerians but recently introduced is issued to persons who want to attend conferences, business meetings and conduct business in the country. It is under the Visa with reference (VWR) category. This category of visa is strictly for business and investment travellers and it allows them to stay in Malaysia for a maximum period of 30 days. VWR extension is only possible through the Director-General or Deputy Director-General of the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

Requirements for a Malaysia Business Visa

  • International passport or travel documents valid for at least 7 months from the date of application. If you do not have either of them, you can apply for a Document in lieu of Passport which can be applied for at any Malaysian representative abroad;
  • Minimum of two blank passport pages for visa endorsements;
  • Photocopy of the first page of passport;
  • Confirmation of visa fees payment;
  • IMM.7 form, two filled and signed copies;
  • Two passport photographs according to the United Kingdom photo requirements. It should have a white or blue background;
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate and prophylaxis issued by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, not over ten (10) days from entry into Malaysia;
  • National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (N.D.L.E.A.) certificate for first-time travellers;
  • Certificate of registration/incorporation of the inviting company in Malaysia;
  • A cover letter introducing the applicant;
  • Original signed invitation letter from the inviting company in Malaysia;
  • Hotel reservation or other forms of accommodation valid for the duration of the business trip;
  • An Introduction letter from the Malaysian company;
  • Return trip ticket with a booking reference number. This will serve as proof that the applicant has the intention of returning to Nigeria;
  • A sponsor who is a local high-level individual or a business company in Malaysia. The company must be well-established and is required to submit copies of Form 9, 24 and 49 to the Immigration Department of Malaysia. The sponsor is required to deposit RM 2000.00 for each traveller to the Immigration Department of Malaysia as a security deposit;
  • If you are travelling with a dependent, the international passport and birth certificate of the dependent should be included in the documents.

All applicants are required to submit their applications in person to the Malaysian embassy and should ensure that all the necessary documents are presented. Applications with incomplete documents will not be processed. Do not forget to go with the receipt of visa payment when going for your visa.

Malaysia Visa Processing Time.

It takes an average of 10 working days to process a Malaysia Business Visa from Nigeria. This can be longer depending on individual assessment and circumstances.

The visa fee is based on the exchange rate at the time of the application. It costs Two thousand Naira (NGN 2,000) excluding service charges. All fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable. When going to pay the visa fee, go along with the first-page photocopy of your passport to the bank.
