World Economic Forum in Nigeria

World Economic Forum on Africa (WEFA) is taking place for the first time in Nigeria from Wednesday, May 7 through
Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
With a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $510 billion, Nigeria’s economy has overtaken South Africa’s as the biggest in Africa and so it is fitting for this year’s WEF to be held in Nigeria (last year’s edition was held in Cape Town, South Africa).
This forum will bring together regional and global leaders to discuss innovative structural reforms and investments that can sustain the continent’s growth while creating jobs and prosperity for all its citizens.
Also expected at the World Economic Summit are President Goodluck Jonathan, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group and Africa’s richest man, and other top public and private sector executives.
This will be the first time Nigeria will be hosting the annual conference since its inception 24 years ago.
