Travel Tips for Those Who Hate Flying

Now, it is not uncommon to find the occasional person who isn't particularly excited at the thought of traveling. Usually, quite a number of things are responsible for such phobias - the horde of people at airports, the fear of flying, the stress of packing for a trip, the frustrations associated with obtaining a visa, etc.

Yeah, traveling isn't exactly fun for everyone.

Assuming you're one of such persons who aren't particularly thrilled at the notion of traveling but kind of have to every now and again, some of the points raised here may help ameliorate your travel experience.

Because, let's face it, it's not like you can just sit back and decide you're not going to travel anymore.

The way I'm going to go about this is point out a couple of things you could do ahead of an impending trip that should make your travel experience marginally better. That way, in case you're not already doing them, you could give them a shot and see what gives.

1. Remember That Planes are Safe. Yes, you probably can still remember that news about that plane crash in February. But, when it comes down to the numbers, flying is still the safest way to travel. You have to remind yourself that planes are safe.

2. Pack early enough. Some people delay packing for an upcoming trip so late that, by the time they finally get to it, the entire experience gets so overwhelming that the chances of missing out some critical things needed for the trip increases.

3. Pack treats in your carry-on bag. This tip comes in handy if you usually can't stomach flight food. Or if you tend to get quite bored aboard flights and can hardly fall asleep. Snacking or indulging in your own treats should improve your overall experience.

4. Bring along a book you're currently reading. This serves as a useful distraction for your mind, especially if it is an engaging book. The same principle applies if you load your device with a show you're currently seeing. Although, most flights offer in-flight shows and music that may achieve the same result. Bring yours just as well.

5. Stay off the coffee or wine. If you have a fear of flying, gulping coffee or wine on the flight will not help you as they'll make it hard for your body to relax. You should stick to just water and snack on fruits like carrots and apples - simple things that will go well with your system and help you relax.
