Travel lessons learnt from travellers.

Most businessmen are always on the move, and hop from planes to cars on one trip or the other. In fact, the livelihood of many businessmen and career women depend on business activities they perform on trips from one city or state and even country to the other. Such people have amassed a wealth of travel experiences and they have one or two travel help tips that you would find invaluable on any particular trip. Here are top 10 travel lessons these experienced travellers are ready to share with you:
i. Always travel light: This cannot be overemphasized enough. The lighter you travel with fewer luggages to carry the better equipped you are to meet exigencies on your trip. Carry only spare necessaries that can fit into a sizeable luggage bag, and make yourself adaptable to situations without compromising your objectives.
ii. Have enough cash:It is always advisable to have enough cash on you; but mind you, enough cash means something in the neighbourhood of $100 or N10,000 and have the rest covered by a plastic debit card or traveller’s cheque. Do not carry huge amounts of cash on your person – it’s dangerous.
iii. Take out travel insurance: Travel insurance is very good if you are travelling to some other states by air, or some other countries you know very little about.
iv. Get vaccinated: You must always get vaccinated if you are travelling to countries with doubtful health standards. For instance, it is always advisable to get vaccinated against malaria, yellow fever, and other diseases in very hot regions like Africa or some other places in Asia.
v. Use travel guides: Travel guides tell you about the city or state you are visiting, and give you basic information to help you adapt or enjoy your stay amidst other security tips.
vi. Car rentals: Depending on your itinerary, it might be more economical to hire a car with a local and professional driver than hop from taxi to taxi.
vii. Emergency numbers: Keep emergency numbers handy in case you face any emergency or threat to life. Fire departments, police departments, health agencies, and other agencies are people to contact in case of emergencies.
viii. Have your return ticket on hand: Always have return tickets for two-way journeys instead of one.
ix. Keep people back home apprised of your movements: That is sound advice – keep people back home apprised of your movements and always leave a forwarding address.
x. Do not go out of coverage areas: It might be dangerous to venture out alone to areas that are not within communication coverage areas, most especially in hostile environments. In fact, you must never go out to hostile environments without adequate armed security providing the much needed protection.
