Travel guides and visitors guide.

Travel guides are very essential if you are visiting an unfamiliar city or country, and you will also find visitors guides invaluable when you hire them to guide you and take you around. Travel guides are printed pamphlets that contain comprehensive information about the city or country you are travelling to, and visitors guides are local professionals that take you round the city to show you places of interest or any other place you wish to visit. How can you maximize travel and visitor guides to your best advantage when you visit any place?

Travel guides

Travel guides are probably the most invaluable travel documents you’d have with you among other essential documents. A travel guide contains comprehensive information about the city or country you are travelling to, and it covers all essential titbits that you’d find very useful to making your trip a success. Travel guides contain information about the geography of the place you are visiting, major towns and cities, airports and hotels, local foods and the ways of life or cultures of the people, health and safety rules, getting around and public transportation, tourism and places of interest, public holidays, emergencies and other information that you’d find very invaluable within a glance. e.g hotel prices, airlines in Nigeria and prices of hotels in Nigerian hotels.

Visitor guides

Visitor guides are local professionals that are in the business of taking tourists around to places of interest. They work on an agreed fee. And they also take time to attend to your questions about what you see and where you want to go. Visitor guides are local citizens or natives and so understand the ways and manners of the people. They can even act as interpreters if you want to communicate with other local peoples and help you with other basic needs. e.g A guide of Chinese Restaurants in Ikeja, Lagos hotels with discount rates, Abuja hotels with complimentary breakfast etc.

Although travel guides will tell you of the best hotels to book, visitor guides know these hotels and they are in a position to take you by the hand to any hotel of their choice. They may even give you their own reviews of the hotels, but you must only be careful that you are only hiring accredited and licensed visitor guides so that they do not help you check into a hotel where they come back with other shady characters to do you harm.
