On the 3rd of January, 2017, Mark Essien, Hotels.ng’s CEO hinted at the commencement of Hotels.ng’s Remote Internship Program in a tweet. That tweet fulfilled the promise of continuity and growth, and the pledge to help develop the Nigerian tech community, it opened our doors once more to people who are eager to learn and develop themselves, and it set up the remote internship program as a Hotels.ng tradition. Late last year, as the first Remote Internship Program came to an end, we celebrated the achievement of the 170 strong interns who had participated in the program. They had built their first product, a Universal Locations API for e-commerce companies. Soon after that they would help complete spots.ng, a free platform that suggests cool spots and tourist attractions in Nigeria to users based on their preferences. They eventually helped build two more programs - Raven, a simplified in-house mailing system, and Hotels.ng for Businesses, a project that is being optimised for premium delivery. This year, the Remote Internship Program 2.0 is expected to be bigger, more engaging, and in addition to Africa and Europe, have participants from all over the world.
