Omega Centre, Abuja

Omega Center is yet another plaza structure on Amino Kano Crescent. It’s not very large in size, but it is quite spacious, consisting only of two blocks – one large bloc curved like a wide ‘U’, and another in the space between the curve. Omega Center also may not be as busy as Banex Plaza or Emab Plaza, but it does get its fair share of traffic influx, which can be a problem sometimes a result of the minimal parking spaces available. The plaza is neat, and you can make your way to the shops easily as there is no rowdiness here.Omega Centre Abuja Processed with VSCOcam

What’s most peculiar about this plaza is that there is no phone or gadget store. There’s a shop where you can purchase printers and laptops and other office equipment, but no phones. There’s an electronics store, but no phones. Well, except at the MTN walk-in center, but that doesn’t count as a phone shop. There’s no apparent reason why this is so, so your guess is just as good as anybody else’s.

What stores will you find here at Omega Center? Firstly, a number of male and female clothing stores all promising they’re the best in fashion. Feel free to visit all and compare price tags. You might find something you like. The plaza’s largest block is only two blocks high, and there are at least two clothing stores on each level. Asides the clothing stores, there are also a number of Bureau de Change shops for those looking to buy or sell foreign currency. There’s the Royal Diadem Network that sells gold and silver jewelry. Apparently, they can get you diamonds too, but those are on special order. Then there’s the MTN Walk-In Center and the DSTv Walk-In Center where you can sort out all your MTN network and DSTv related issues respectively. There’s a carpet shop as well, and a great store where you can get hats, fascinators and accessories called Rubies and Purple. There’s a DaViVa store where you can purchase high quality fabric, and the Beko outlet where you can purchase home appliances.

And you can’t mention Omega Center without talking about Ketchup, the restaurant right in front of the plaza, overlooking the street. When you’re done with your shopping, you can sit out and have a nice lunch break or just enjoy some drinks in the sun. You could say Omega Center is a little bit like a mall, except there isn’t so much variety – Plot 527, Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja.
