To the north, Lagos Island is home to the National Museum Lagos, displaying cultural artifacts and craft-works. Nearby is Freedom Park, once a colonial-era prison and now a major venue for concerts and public events.

As beautiful as Lagos is, some places are calmer than others. There are certain number of dangerous places in Lagos you must avoid at all cost especially during the night.

Mushin is a notorious place known for cultism, sudden violent break-outs and armed robbery. Mushin is one of the most notorious crime areas in Lagos. Fights happen so suddenly that one has to be on alert every time.

2. Ajegunle

Ajegunle is known as a jungle for notorious criminals and is also called 'ghetto'. Ajegunle is a place filled with open sewer and dilapidated buildings as it is a highly populated district in Lagos. If you do not live in Ajegunle, it is advised that you do not visit that place, especially at night as you might be a victim of armed robbery, kidnapping or even rape.

3. Bariga

Bariga is located in the heart of Lagos mainland and it is a district that is affiliated with Somolu. Bariga is well-known for gang fights and kidnapping so it is best to avoid that area at night so as not to become a victim.

Oshodi is becoming transformed into a really beautiful place. Nevertheless, it is still an area that is well-known for pick-pocketing. It is a very dangerous place especially early in the morning and late at night.

There are really nice places in Ikeja such as exotic restaurants and great hotels. However, there are places in Ikeja that are notorious. For example; computer village Ikeja and under bridge Ikeja- pick-pocketing and armed robbery are rampant in those areas and it is super dangerous to be in those places at night.

Fadeyi is a notorious neighborhood for armed robbery and other criminal activities. It can go from being peaceful in one second to a violence engulfed location. Fadeyi is one of the most dangerous places in Lagos to be in especially at night.

Agege is a notorious place and residents live in fear as criminal activities have become more rampant. Raping, murder, and armed robbery are the highlight of the crimes and it is very unsafe.

Ijora is an area that is populated with thugs who have no problems harassing and stealing from people, Ijora is also popular for the slummy areas and prostitutes. Sometimes, inter-tribal fights break out between the Hausas and the Yorubas.
