Gusau Airstrip is located in Gusau, the capital city of Zamfara State, Nigeria. It serves Gusau and nearby towns. Gusau is the capital city of Zamfara State Nigeria. It is also a major center for commercial activities in the state, especially farming. The Gusau people are mostly of the Hausa tribe. Because of the availability of large arable land, its indigenes are mostly farmers.
Gusau Airstrip was built by former governor Bello Matawalle. The construction of the airstrip brought great development to Zamfara State. It is the only functional airport in the state. The airstrip handles commercial and private flights to major cities in Nigeria. Currently, it is in good shape. This is because it is well-equipped with quality and modern aviation facilities. Also, it is well maintained.
Gusau Airfield has only one runway. Its surface is currently unpaved. It is coated with Laterite. Also, Runway Edge Lighting is yet to be installed at the airport. Because of lack of runway light, commercial activities are only handled in the day.
