The Tourist Visa is issued to foreigners traveling to Greece with the intention of sightseeing and relaxing. Applicants of this visa may have the intention of visiting their friends or relatives who reside in the country. If your purpose of traveling to Greece is for visitation, a letter of invitation from your host in Greece should be provided. An original certificate of employment for the last three years is required. It should be accompanied by a letter from your employer stating the days of your leave. You are required to provide a criminal record from the last three years. This should be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Minors applying for this visa are required to be in possession of the original copy of their birth certificate. You are not permitted to engage in business activities during your time in the country. Non-Nigerians are required to present their Nigerian residence permit. All documents to be submitted should be in photocopies but originals must be submitted during the visa interview.

Holders of this visa can negotiate and sign business contracts with their partners during business meetings. An invitation letter from the host company in Greece is required. The letter should be written in both Greek and English. The invitation letter should introduce the applicant and state the duration and purpose of the applicant’s visit. This visa allows foreigners to attend and participate in trade fairs, conferences, and business seminars relating to their profession. Foreigners visiting the country to attend a conference should provide an invitation letter from the company or authorized body to attend events connected with trade. Applicants of this visa must provide evidence of clean criminal record from the last three years. A letter from the applicant’s employer stating the applicant’s job position, salary level and length of employment should be provided. This visa is issued to foreign nationals who have been accepted to study full-time in a higher education establishment in Greece. A letter of acceptance from the institution that the applicant has been accepted into should be provided. The letter should be printed on the institutions letterhead and must state the course the applicant will be studying. If the applicant of this visa is under the age of 18 years, a letter of consent signed by the person exercising parental authority is required. Certificate which proves that the applicant has a sufficient knowledge of the Greek language should be provided if the applicant will be studying a language course. Applicants of this visa are to present proof of clean criminal record. A medical certificate issued by a recognized medical institution in the country showing that the applicant does not suffer from a contagious disease is required. The Consular Authority in Greece offers a visa valid for up to 1 year and then issue a residence permit valid until the end of the applicant’s study. Applicants are required to provide a duly completed and signed application form when applying for a residence permit.
