This is the type of visa issued to persons who intend to visit Bulgaria for tourism purposes. You can also visit family and friends while on this visa. All visitors to Bulgaria must carry a valid passport. Visa applicants need to submit an invitation letter from a family member or host living in Bulgaria. This letter should clearly state the address and contact details of the host, as well as your relationship with them. During the visa application, you will need to provide proof of sufficient funds to last the duration of your stay. A pplicants may also be required to submit a document that shows they have the incentive of returning to their country at the expiry of the visa. You are advised to exit the country before your visa expires. Proof of yellow fever vaccination is also required. This visa does not serve study purposes. You cannot be enrolled in any of the institutions of learning in the country. The applicant must provide photocopies of the original passport and ID card, including copy of all visas(valid and expired). Applicants of the Bulgarian tourist visa will need to gather the following: A duly filled and signed Bulgaria tourist visa application form. Original, signed Nigeria passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity. A passport style photo, with a white background, taken within the last 6 months. Photocopies of your passport and ID card. A copy of round trip tickets or confirmed itinerary. A copy of a recent bank statement showing proof of sufficient funds (at least $60 per day). Copy of confirmed hotel reservations. Working people will need to provide a letter from their employer/school (on business letterhead, with contact details), stating that a leave of absence has been granted and that they will be returning to their current job. If you are self-employed, include a copy of your business license and tax return. If you are retired please submit proof of your retirement fund. If being invited to Bulgaria by friends or family, you must provide a letter confirming this. The letter must include the contact information of the host and visitor, purpose and duration of the visit, confirmation of accommodation including the address, signature and date. You will also need to provide proof of the host's status in Bulgaria i.e., a copy of their Bulgaria passport's information page, or, if they are not a citizen of Bulgaria, copies of their Bulgaria residence permit and their national passport's information pages. If you will be receiving financial support from a host or other sponsor in Bulgaria, please provide a copy of that individual's bank statement. Also note that the invitation letter from your host should specifically state the types of support they will be providing you (financial, accommodations, etc).

The Bulgarian business visa is of two (2) categories: short-stay business visa, designated as the “Type C” visa. long-term business visa, designated as the “Type D” visa. A non-EU national may obtain a Bulgarian Business visa on the ground of registering a limited company, branch or trade representative office in Bulgaria. Eligibility requires the provision of a business invitation letter from the Bulgarian company you will be visiting. This letter will also contain their detailed address, accompanied with the date and actual purpose of your trip. Proof of any previous business dealings with the company you are meeting up with should be provided. The short-stay Bulgarian Business visa is a multi-entry visa allowing a stay of 90 days in Bulgaria. The visa application should be submitted at the nearest Bulgarian embassy or consulate. The visa processing time can be anywhere between 7 to 10 working days and a visa application fee of $50 is payable. To download the Bulgarian visa application form, visit >>> Bulgarian Visa Application Form There are 3 primary instances for which a long-term Bulgarian Business visa (Type D visa) is issued: for registration of a Trade Representative Office in Bulgaria for registration of a Bulgarian company employing at least 10 local citizens for no fewer than 6 months. for registration of a Bulgarian branch employing at least 10 local citizens for now fewer than 6 months. The most convenient and affordable way for a foreign national to obtain a “Type D” Bulgarian Business visa, and eventually a Bulgarian residence permit is by way of registering a trade representative office in Bulgaria. The trade representative office is regulated by the Investment Promotion Act (IPA) of Bulgaria. The long-term Bulgarian Business visa is granted either for 6 or 12 months, and it is mandatory for all non-EU nationals who would like to apply for a Bulgarian residence permit. The visa processing time is 30 working days and a visa application fee of $100 is payable.

An international student who wants to pursue an educational course in Bulgaria will have to obtain a student visa. The first step of your study process in Bulgaria is getting accepted into a recognized Bulgarian college for a study program. After that, you can now go on and kick start your student visa application. The Bulgarian Student Visa (D-type Visa) is valid from 3 to 6 months. The student visa can be obtained from any Bulgarian Diplomatic Mission abroad. All non-EU/EEA students aiming to study in Bulgaria must secure this visa. These are the required documents for a Bulgarian student visa application: Photocopy of your Nigerian passport valid for at least one year beyond your intended period of travel. Acceptance letter from the school (certificate stating that the applicant is admitted as a student in a Bulgarian university plus the certificate from the university stating that the applicant will be accommodated in the student hostel) Medical insurance valid for the EU member states for the whole period of the trip, covering all costs for repatriation and for urgent medical care and emergency hospital treatment for the period of the stay in Bulgaria. Bank document issued in the name of the applicant to prove that tuition fee has been paid. Colorful passport photographs, 3.5 cm х 4.5 cm in dimension and taken against a white background. Tickets (original and copy) or ticket booking confirmation or financial means For under-aged children travelling without their parents or trustees the following documents shall be submitted: a. Copy of the birth certificate b. Original and photocopy of a power of attorney notary certified by both parents/ trustees or by one parent trustee that they agree their child to travel unaccompanied by them. Photocopy of the last Bulgarian and Schengen visas or visas for the UK and the US, if any. The passport photo must a full-face photo with a clear bold face which takes up 70-80% of the photo space. No glasses should be won. After the arrival in Bulgaria, the applicant with a Bulgarian student visa must apply for a long-term stay (residency permit) in Bulgaria. This permit is usually valid for one year maximum and renewable every year for the whole period of the study. Application for residency permit is only be submitted in Bulgaria after final registration at the university.
