The Brazilian tourist visa is issued to persons intending to visit Brazil for tourism or to see friends and family living in Brazil. You need to check the validity of your passport before applying for your visa. Your passport needs to be valid for at least another six months from your departure date before it can be used. You are allowed to spend a maximum of 180 days in Brazil over the course of a year. You will be given a 90-day visa from the start but you can apply for an extension while in Brazil. You can do this at the Federal Police of Brazil, but only before your visa expires. You are not allowed to work, go to school, or engage in business activities while on a Brazil tourist visa. You will be deported if you do so. The visa candidate’s bank statements from the previous 6 months with substantial amount of money in the account should be presented. If the applicant has reached retirement, then he or she has to provide the proof of retirement or the pension order. If the candidate to apply for the Brazilian passport is a student, he or she has to provide a bona fide certificate or student ID. The applicant also has to produce a document to the immigration department that clears him or her from Yellow Fever. This type of visa is issued to businessmen, representatives or employees of foreign companies who want to visit Brazil for business purposes. With this visa, applicants can attend business meetings and conferences and conclude contracts. A covering letter from the applicant’s company is required. The letter must have the company’s letterhead, the name of the company,  the designation of the candidate, the department he or she works in and the contact number. A notarized letter of invitation from the concerned organization in Brazil is needed. The letter should be written in both English and Portuguese. The letter should also include all the details of the company, such as the registration number of the organization, the duration and purpose of stay of the applicant. Your employer will need to provide p roof that there was no Brazilian willing and available to take up the job before you were offered the job. Applicants of this visa who do not have the right qualification which matches the job they have been offered may not be issued this visa. The proof is required from your employer that you will not be paid below the minimum wage paid to citizens of the country. If you are traveling with a minor, the original copy of the minor’s birth certificate is required. A notarized consent signed by both the minor’s parents should also be submitted. The short-term work visa which is valid for 90 days can be obtained by foreign nationals willing to work in Brazil by getting approval directly from the Brazilian consular offices. The applicant needs to provide the contract that has been signed as proof to the immigration department. The applicant needs to take out a print out of the application form that he or she will fill by logging onto the link https://scedv.serpro.gov.br/frscedv/index.jsp  and paste a photograph in it. The application which is known as the ‘online confirmation page’ needs to be submitted at the embassy. Along with the ‘online confirmation form’, other documents such as a letter of invitation from the Brazilian company, CNPJ number of the Brazilian organization and proof of visa fees payment need to be submitted.
