About The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative

The NEITI is a government is a Federal Government Agency overseen by the Office of Nigeria through the Secretary to the Government. It helps to promote transparency and cut out in revenue determination and application of resources. It is located at 4th Floor, Murjanatu House, 1 Zambezi Crescent, Off Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama.

History of Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative

On 16th February, 2004, the president set up a 28-man group to implement Extrative Industries Transparency Initiative in Nigeria, the group was called National Stakeholders Working Group (NSWG) which was headed by Mrs Obiageli Ezekwesili. On May 28, 2007, the NEITI Act, 2007, was enacted. The NSWG was later reconstructed and a new chairperson was appointed.
