The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion is an agency which helps to rein in ideas, creations, innovations and creative works towards technological advancement. NOTAP also helps to breed national talents some of whom benefit the nation. NOTAP is located at Blantyre Street, off Adetokumbo Ademola Crescent Wuse II, Abuja.

History of The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion

For a long time, there had been a wide gap in the acquisition of foreign technology in the country, this led to the setting up of the National Office of Industrial Property (NOIP) in 1979. In 1992, NOIP was changed to the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP). This was by merit of section 1(1) of the National Office of Industrial Property (Change of Name, etc) Decree No. 82 of 1992. Also, section 2 of the Decree re-designated the principal Act as the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion Act Cap. N62 LFN 2004 (the Act).
