News Agency of Nigeria was formed by the Federal Government of Nigeria via decree 19 of 1976, the agency started its operations on 2nd October, 1978. giving three news bulletins to subscribers day by day. When satellite technology was introduced in 1998, the agency began to broadcast stories to its subscribers all at once.  The agency's website was launched on 8th August, 2016.
