The Defense Intelligence Agency is responsible for acquiring military intelligence for the Nigerian armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense. The agency is also tasked with safeguarding the lives of citizens and maintaining territorial integrity and also to improve military togetherness with other nations.

History of The Defense Intelligence Agency

The Defense Intelligence Agency was founded in 1986 by the National Security Agencies Act of 1986 (Decree 19) as the chief military intelligence agency of the country. The agency was established as an effective system of getting military intelligence for the Nigerian Armed forces and the ministry of defense. The head of the agency is selected by the president, the current head is AVM MS. Usman.
