The JAMB board was first established in 1978 to harmonize and unify the process of gaining admission to study in any Nigerian University as opposed to undergoing different tests from various schools. It was done to make the process of admission easier and to level the playing field. The Board has tweaked its system at various times to be in line with current best practices and started its 2017 preparations by announcing that tests would be taken on computers only. Other practices have also been scrapped by the government such as the introduction of stage 2 screening tests by individual schools meaning that only the JAMB and WAEC results are needed for candidates to hope for admission into the colleges now.Safety
