About Asset Management Company of Nigeria

AMCON was created to be a key stabilizing and re-vitalizing tool aimed at reviving the financial system by efficiently resolving the non-performing loan assets of the banks in the Nigerian economy, during the global financial crisis. This it has done by continually been at the forefront of acquiring eligible bank assets from financial institutions and putting them to profitable economic use. AMCON helps to complement the the recapitalization of ailing banks and provides opportunities for banks to sell off non performing loans among other functions.


History of The Asset Management Company of Nigeria

The Asset Management Company of Nigeria was established in July 2010 with the signing of the AMCON Act into law by then President Googluck Jonathan as an Independent corporation. Its activities were to last for 10 years and it has an annual ₦50 billion endowment from the Central Bank.
