About The National Judicial Council

The NJC is a federal executive body created to replace the previous Advisory Judicial council.It is a financially autonomous judiciary that is committed to the rule of law,It comprises of officers with impeccable background,competence and proven integrity.

History of The National Judicial Council

The National Judicial Council is one of the Federal Executive Bodies created by virtue of Section 153 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.By the provision of Paragraph 21 of Part One of the Third Schedule to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of  Nigeria,the NJC has the power to recommend to the President the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justices of supreme court amongst other things.

National Judicial Council is located in Abuja North-Central of Nigeria.Thus, it experiences three weather conditions every year.  This includes a warm, humid rainy season and a blistering dry season.  In between the two, there is a brief interlude of harmattan occasioned by the northeast trade wind, with the main feature of dust haze and dryness. Temperatures can drop to as low as 16 degrees during the harmattan period.
