National Information Technology Development Agency is a public service institution under the Nigerian Ministry of Communication, which serves as the main instrument of government policy implementation and development in the Nigerian ICT scene. Over the years, NITDA has championed the cause of IT infrastructural development, IT human and capital development, IT awareness as well as the National IT policy framework.History of National Information Technology Development Agency
NITDA was created by the federal government in April 2001 to implement the new Nigerian Information Technology Policy and co-ordinate general IT development in the country. As Nigeria shifted from its military past into a democratic form of government, it identified the paradigm shift in world standard mode of communication and set aside this policy to guide the nation's shift into the digital age. It's was fully enabled in 2007 by the signing of the National Information Technology Development Act to create a framework for the planning, research, development, standardization, application, coordination, monitoring, evaluation and regulation of Information Technology practices, activities and systems in Nigeria.Safety
