An experimental farm was established at Moor Plantation, Ibadan in January 1923. The First School of Agriculture followed in 1955. Both establishments were combined as the Eastern Nigeria Agricultural Research and Training Station in 1956 It assumed federal status in 1972 and was given its present name in 1976 coming under control of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria. It gained present status in 1995 when it was split into two and the Federal College of Agriculture Ishiagu, the training organ was formed from it.Safety
