A tourist visa is needed to visit Yemen for tourism purposes.
In January 2010, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Yemen announced that they will no longer be issuing visas on arrival to the country.
A report released by the Ministry stated that in an effort to fight terrorism and strengthen security measures to prevent the infiltration of terrorist elements into the country, the granting of visas at airports to foreigners will be cancelled.
All intending visitors to Yemen must secure a visa, including Nigerians.
Yemen visa used to be very easy to get but since the revolution in 2011, the Yemen laws of immigration have changed.
You can now not successfully apply for a tourist visa without an invitation letter from a tour agency in Yemen.
The easiest way to get a tourist visa to Yemen now might be to go through an approved travel agency.
The travel agency will handle all the embassy and immigration paperwork.
The Yemeni tourist visa is usually valid for three months for a single entry or 6 months for multiple entries.
Which visa type you get is at the discretion of the consulate.
You are advised to exit the country before your visa expires.

A Nigerian passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp.
Duly completed and signed visa application form.
If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
Passport-size photographs (2 x 2” dimension) taken in white background.
Travel document.

Proof of accommodation
Copy of return flight ticket
Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country, e.g. verification from applicant’s employer.
A police report showing the traveler does not have a criminal record.
