Visitor Visa from Botswana to Canada
- A Canadian visitor visa is issued to aliens who are travelling to Canada for tourism, leisure or visitations.
- This visa is referred to as a temporary resident visa.
- Canadian consul issues single-entry and multiple-entry visas.
- The single-entry visa allows one entry into Canada and a stay of 180 days while the multiple-entry allows several entries into Canada.
- Applicants are mostly considered for a multiple-entry visa. Once issued, it can be valid for as long as five to ten years with a six month stay period during each trip.
- Working or studying with this visa is prohibited. The appropriate visa should be applied for if you want to work or study.
- Visa extensions are possible. About 96 days is required for online application for visa extension and 113 days for paper application.
- Applicants are to also obtain a Visa Application Consent form(VAC) in addition to the application form.
- The consul might require the individual to be present for an interview or bio-metric capture.
- If you are refused a visa extension or forget to apply before your visa expires, you will lose your temporary resident status.
- Loss of temporary resident status requires the individual to apply for restoration within 90 days and must not leave Canada during the process.
- All documents are to be translated into English and French.
- Documents such as pictures of dependent family members in Botswana, assets owned or employment letter are required.
- These are to prove to the Consular officer that the individual has the intention of returning to their home country when the visa expires.
- If the Consular Officer is not convinced that you will return, you might be refused a visa.
- Individuals with criminal histories will not be granted a visa.
- It costs USD 100 per person for single and multiple entry visa, USD 500 for groups of 5 or more and USD 100 for visa extensions.
