Work Visa from Nigeria to Lithuania Description

An foreigner who intends to work legally in Lithuania must obtain a work permit and a national visa D.
Usually, the first step is securing a job. Once that is done, the foreigner will then proceed with an application for a work permit and national visa D.
Before submitting the documents for the issue of a work permit in Lithuania, the Labour Exchange of Lithuania must register a vacant position in the Lithuanian company.
The vacant position shall be registered no less than 5 working days before the submission of documents for the issue of a work permit in Lithuania.
During this period, citizens of Lithuania and permanent residents of Lithuania, meeting the employer's requirements, shall have the right to apply for the vacancy.
If, during this period, the employer – Lithuanian company cannot find a suitable candidate for the vacancy, the foreigner may then submit documents for the issue of a work permit in Lithuania.
The following basic requirements are set for a foreigner who intends to work in Lithuania:

You must have all the right qualifications for the job you are seeking to fill.
You must be ready to show documents proving your suitability for the post, e.g., educational certificates, practical training, diplomas, etc.
You must have at least 1 year of work experience within the last 2 years in an appropriate area and the supporting documents to prove this.

The place to submit documents for a work permit in Lithuania is the local labour exchange office.
In order to employ a foreigner under the employment contract, the following documents must be submitted to the Employment Service:

Completed application
Copy of your passport
Employer’s information on the foreigner’s qualification and at least one year of working experience according to their qualification within the last two years.

The employer’s letter must contain the foreigner’s qualification, current and former workplaces where the foreigner has worked under their qualification during the last 2 years.
Details of work duration, titles and roles are also important.
The employer must make sure the foreigner has documents proving their qualifications (diplomas, certificates, etc.)
Foreign documents must be legalized or certified with an Apostille in accordance with the established procedure, unless otherwise provided for by other legislation.
The translation into Lithuanian language of documents drawn up not in Lithuanian must be confirmed by a signature of translator. Copies of documents must be approved by signature and stamp of the head of the company.
Processing a Lithuanian work permit usually takes up to 7 working days while the national visa D could take up to 15 days.
Once a work permit has been issued, the foreigner can proceed with the submission of documents for the issue of a national visa D.
The place to submit documents for a national visa D is a diplomatic mission or a consular post of Lithuania abroad.

Fully completed and signed visa application form
Two recently taken photos. Both photos must be taken within the last three months and must follow all visa photo requirements.
A valid passport which is not older than 10 years. It should be valid for at least three more months beyond the date you plan to leave Lithuania.
A round trip reservation or itinerary. This must include dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from Lithuania.
A travel insurance policy. A document that proves you have travel health insurance for the whole Schengen territory, with a minimum coverage of 30,000 euros in case of any medical emergency as illnesses, accidents and even repatriation in case of death.
Proof of accommodation. A document that shows where you will be accommodated throughout your stay in Lithuania.
Proof of financial means. Evidence that you have enough money to support yourself financially throughout your stay in the country. This can be one of the following:

Bank account statement – that shows you have enough money in your account for the trip. The statement shall be no older than 3 months.
Sponsorship Letter – by another person that confirms they will be financially supporting your trip to Lithuania. In order for this letter to be valid, it must be accompanied by a bank statement of the sponsor, no older than three months.

Proof of paid visa fee. €60 for adults and €35 for children from 6 to 12 years old.
