This visa is issued to persons who want to visit family members, relatives and friends in Turkey from Nigeria. Tourist visas are single-entry visas and they are valid for up to 3 months (90 days). Turkish visit visas are valid for multiple stays up to a maximum of 90 days in a 180 day period. The 90 days must cover you for the entire time you are in Turkey and not just parts of that time. The penalty for overstaying your visa can be a fine (which increases depending on the time spent over the time limit), potential deportation and in some cases, a ban on returning to the country. This ban can be anywhere between three months and five years. Generally, there are two types of tourist visas - a single-entry visa (called Tek giris) and a multiple-entry visa (called Muteaddit giris). A single-entry visa allows a one-time entry into Turkey and once you leave the country (irrespective of your length of stay) you need to obtain a separate visa to re-enter Turkey. A multiple-entry visa on the other hand, permits multiple entries into the country within the span of its validity without incurring any additional cost. If you plan to enter and leave Turkey 4 - 5 times in a span of three months, for instance, it is worthwhile going for a "Muteaddit giris". Certain nationalities will automatically be granted a multiple-entry visa on payment of their fee at their port of entry.

You need a student visa for formal registration as a student at a Turkish university. Prospective students who come to Turkey without a student visa will neither be allowed to register as a student at the university nor receive a residency permit once in the country. Student visas must be obtained from a Turkish consulate, generally the one nearest to your place of residence in the country of your nationality. Student visas cannot be issued from within Turkey. You must take or mail a copy of your "Letter of Acceptance" from a Turkish university and a completed visa application form to the appropriate Turkish Consulate. Consulate staff can provide you with an application form upon request. It generally takes around eight weeks from the time you submit your application until you receive your visa. Although a time limit will be indicated on your visa, your student visa remains valid as long as you are enrolled at school.

Nigerians intending to work in Turkey requires a work visa and permit. This permit is issued by the Turkish Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS). Most foreigners should apply for their work permits concurrent to their work visas. This means that you will submit your work visa application materials to the Turkish embassy or consulate in your home country, while your employer submits the required documents to the MLSS. It is also possible, however, to apply for a work permit from inside Turkey. Foreigners are eligible to do so if they have already been issued a residence permit with a remaining validity of at least six months. Foreigners who entered Turkey as tourists are not eligible for work permits. Regardless of whether you apply for a work permit from inside or outside of Turkey, you will need to have an employment contract or job offer. Once you and your employer have submitted your application, the MLSS will process the application within 90 days. If your application is approved, you must travel to a Turkish embassy in person to have the work visa and permit stamped into your passport.
