Tourist Visa from Nigeria to Colombia

  • This is the type of visa issued to persons who intend to visit Colombia for tourism purposes.
  • You can also visit family and friends while on this visa.
  • All visitors to Colombia must carry a valid passport.
  • A Colombian “tourist” visa isn’t a formal visa; it’s just a stamp in your passport.
  • The fee for the tourist visa is currently $82 and you can pay this at the visa office in Bogota after entering Colombia.
  • The “tourist” visa can be extended by 90 days at any Migración Colombia office in the country.
  • It is quite easy to extend a Colombian tourist visa but one can only stay for a maximum of 180 days in a year.
  • You can submit your visa application online or in person. When submitting in person, you do not need to enclose passport size photographs. Photos are taken during the visa appointment at the consulate itself.
  • Digital photos to be used in online applications must be in JPG format of max size 300KB. All the supporting documents should be ordered into a single PDF.
  • When traveling with funds over $10,000, it must be declared.
  • If you are applying through a visa/travel agency, you must present a letter stating that you are granting them the rights to apply for a visa on your behalf.
  • When you enter Colombia as a tourist, an immigration official will stamp your passport and normally write that it is good for 90 days.
  • But this is at the discretion of the official and can occasionally be shorter.
  • If you overstay your tourist visa time limit, you will have to pay a fine before leaving the country.
  • We recommend that you pay this fine at the Migracion office within at least three days before your departure, so you aren’t delayed at the airport.
  • Fines reportedly start at 380,000 pesos and go up, depending on how long you overstay.
