Student Visa from Rwanda to United Arab Emirates

  • A student visa is issued to individuals of other countries who want to come to UAE to study in a higher institution
  • It is also issued to children of non-natives of UAE whose parents sponsor their academic bills
  • For freshers, a letter of admission from a recognized educational institution in UAE is required
  • If you are a returning student, you have to submit a certificate of continuation signed by the authorities of your institution
  • The student visa is valid for one year but can be extended for an additional year if the institution the individual is admitted into issues an official proof of continuation of studies
  • In 2008, the UAE government passed a decree that issues a 5-year student visa to individuals who graduate with at least 95% from their secondary schools or with a cgpa of 3.75 from a university within or outside the country.
  • The benefits of this decree can also be enjoyed by parents and families of the students
  • Individuals applying for this visa have to submit a proof of sufficient funds to cover the duration of the course preferably a sponsor.
  • A medical test will be conducted in approved medical centers in UAE and individuals who test HIV or tuberculosis positive will be deported.
  • Students visa can be secured by either a relative residing in the UAE, a recognized institution or visa authorities represented in each emirate of UAE
  • Expatriates are not allowed to continue sponsoring male children above 18 years of age however female children can continue to be sponsored regardless of their ages.
  • From October 21st 2018,  students who graduate from universities or secondary schools or who become 18 years will be granted a one-year residence visa, which can be renewed for another year from the graduation date or on completing 18 years.
  • The residence visa costs AED 100 for the initial issuance and renewal
  • Note that an institution granting you admission does not guarantee the issuance of a student visa.
