Visitor Visa from Nigeria to South Africa Description

  • A South African visitor visa is issued to individuals who want to travel to visit friends and families, for leisure and sight-seeing.
  • An invitation letter from your host in South Africa containing the address and contact details of the host should be submitted.
  • The host should attach to the letter proof of residence in South Africa. The generally accepted proof is a utility bill.
  • Certified copies of the host’s identity copies will also need to be submitted.
  • If the host is a Foreigner in South Africa, a copy of the passport and the permit legalizing a stay in South Africa must also be attached.
  • Applicants are required to have a self-introduction letter with a physical address and phone number.
  • All applications should be done through VFS which incurs an additional service fee of N25,200 for Lagos and Abuja applicants.
  • There is no exemption for VFS Service charge.
  • The visa fee in Naira is as per the current exchange rate. It is subject to change without notice.
  • Tourist visa is solely for the purpose of leisure travel including vacationing, cruising, sightseeing and other recreational activities. Studying of partaking in business is illegal.
  • The visa will allow you to travel to a South African port of entry where an immigration official will then determine if you are allowed to enter South Africa and for how long you can stay for that particular visit. Visitors are restricted to the activity or purpose for which their visas were issued. 
  • Frequent visitors to South Africa to apply for a three-year multiple entry visa.
  • Applications must be submitted in person.
  • According to the amended South African Immigration Act 13 of 2002, foreign nationals overstaying the expiry of their South African visas will be determined undesirable and, consequently, face being banned from the Republic for a period of up to 5 years.

  • Nigerian passport valid for at least 30 days from the intended departure date.
  • Copies of the passport data page, existing visas, and previously issued visas if any.
  • BI-84 application form filled in black ink.
  • Two passport-size photographs taken on a white background.
  • Original and copy of Yellow Fever card.
  • A copy of the hotel booking.
  • Copy of flight tickets.
  • Birth certificate.
  • Self-introduction letter.
  • Introduction letter from employer.
  • Original receipt issued at the time of submission of visa application.
  • Marriage certificate (if applicable) to stay for more than 90 days.
  • Proof of financial support or sponsor.
  • Parents/ legal guardian letter of consent for minors.
  • Photocopies of all original documents.
