St Lucia is a country on the Caribbean island. It has a population of about 170,000. Majority of the population are Roman Catholics.

The capital city and largest port is famous for The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, the largest church in the Caribbean and palm-lined Vigie beach. Near the harbour, you can enjoy duty-free shopping or visit the lively Castries market for a range of local products.

St Lucia has a warm and humid climate with two seasons, the wet season – June to November and the dry season, December to May. This period, December to May is the best time to visit.

Lightweight casual clothing is recommended as the climate is tropical. A light sweater or jacket is also recommended for cool evenings.

Road transport is the most popular means of transportation. Minibuses run frequently between popular places. Taxis are more comfortable and easier and you can hire through taxi companies or you can hail one on the street. You can also take water taxis to popular bays and beaches.
