Medical Visa from Djibouti to Portugal

  • The Medical visa enables Djiboutians to visit Portugal for medical treatment.
  • Portugal has a state-funded universal healthcare system offered to all.
  • Medical diagnosis is required from your local doctor and It should be accompanied by a document stating why the ailment is best treated in Portugal.
  • If you are planning to stay in Portugal for more than 90 days, you can ask for a certificate from your local council office. The certificate allows you to access Portugal’s public healthcare.
  • A medical attestation from the hospital or doctor in Portugal, confirming the date of appointment as well as your medical situation is required.
  • You are also required to provide proof of international health insurance when applying for your visa. The insurance must have a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000. It must have an emergency medical evacuation and repatriation benefit.
  • If you are employed, a letter from your employer is required. Your employer should state in the letter that he is aware of your leave, your position and how long you have been employed in the company should be clearly stated.
  •  Proof of payment of medical fees should be provided as well as medical insurance to cover the entire stay should be provided.
  • Minors must ensure that they possess the original copy of their birth certificate. If they are travelling alone or with one of their parents, a document of consent which is signed by both parents of the minor should also be provided.
