Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is located between Switzerland and Austria, with Switzerland bordered to the west and south and Austria to the east and north. The best times to visit Liechtenstein for best weather are April 23rd to October 7th, here there is average temperature and humidity.


The climate in Liechtenstein is temperate and is characterised by an alpine climate zone with warm, wet summers and mild winters. Liechtenstein experiences spring, Autumn, winter and summer. Spring starts from March and lasts till May, summer from June to August, Autumn from September to November, and the winter runs from December to February.



The culture in Liechtenstein is deeply rooted in the Alemannic culture, and also Catholic has its influence over the culture in the country and also in the religion.


Catholicism is the predominant religion in Liechtenstein.


The cuisine in Liechtenstein is influenced by the neighbouring countries Switzerland and Austria, and features a wide variety of delightful meals like the "Käsknöpfle mit Apfelmus", which is a doughy pasta dish with melted cheese served with applesauce and "Tatsch/Kratzete", a thick pancake served with compot.


The mainly spoken language in Liechtenstein is Standard German.



Liechtenstein is a relatively small country and does not have any airports or water transportation. But due to this fact one can get around the whole country in a few hours on a bicycle, there are no trains in Liechtenstein but buses and taxis are available for transport. Road are said to be in very good conditions and this make getting around easier.


Liechtenstein is known to be one of the safest countries in the world, but that does not mean it is without crime.



Liechtenstein is home to a lot of festivals and events that brings different tourists and visitors to the country every year. Some of these event include: “Monster Concert “, during the month of March in Schaan, the monster festival is held every year in the month of March. It started in 1958 and is celebrated with music and dancing in the streets; “Operettas” in Vaduz/Balzers, the operettas in Liechtenstein is a three month long celebration held in either Vaduz or Balzers it lasts from January to mid-March; “National Day of Liechtenstein”, The National day of Liechtenstein is held every 15th of August, And is celebrated with games, parades, music events, dance performance and traditional cuisines; the “LGT Alpine Marathon”, it is a sporting event that is held annually in the 16th of June.



Liechtenstein is home to many attractions that bring in different tourists from around the world every year, some of these major attractions and places include:

  • The Treasure Chamber of the Principality of Liechtenstein - This is located in Vaduz and features artworks and other treasures from the Princely Family's 400-year-old private collection. Some other interesting attractions include the "Rhine Journey" series by Johann Ludwig Bleuler, a large collection of historic weaponry, along with many other artifacts with connections to European royalty through the centuries.


  • Gutenberg Castle - This is located far above a village in Balzers, south of Liechtenstein. This is a preserved fortress dating from the Middle ages, and features many festivals held in the warmer months, such as open-air concerts and outdoor theatrical performances.


  • Liechtenstein National Museum - Located in Vaduz, also known as (Liechtenstein Landesmuseum) the state owned museum is government owned and has been preserved from the 15th century, and it has a branch called the postal museum.


  • The Towns of Nendeln and Eschen - These are communities located in the lower areas in Liechtenstein, they are notable for their old foundations from a Roman villa, as well as the Schädler Pottery, established in 1836 and the oldest craft workshop in the country.

  • The Ruggeller Riet Nature Reserve - This is a great place to experience the countries flora and fauna, it offers a great time to visitor from  the end of May into early June, as it offers a great picnicking site for tourists.



There are over 500 hotels and accomodations in Liechtenstein, from luxurious apartments to homely designs.

Basic Travel Requirements for Nigerians Visiting Liechtenstein

  • Fully completed and signed visa application form
  • Two recently taken photos. Both photos must be taken within the last three months and must follow all visa photo requirements.
  • A valid passport which is not older than 10 years. It should be valid for at least three more months beyond the date you plan to leave Liechtenstein.
  • A round trip reservation or itinerary. This must include dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from Liechtenstein.
  • A travel insurance policy. A document that proves you have travel health insurance for the whole Schengen territory, with a minimum coverage of 30,000 euros in case of any medical emergency as illnesses, accidents and even repatriation in case of death.
  • Proof of accommodation. A document that shows where you will be accommodated throughout your stay in Liechtenstein.
  • Proof of financial means. Evidence that you have enough money to support yourself financially throughout your stay in the country. This can be one of the following:
      • Bank account statement – that shows you have enough money in your account for the trip. The statement shall be no older than 3 months.
      • Sponsorship Letter – by another person that confirms they will be financially supporting your trip to Liechtenstein. In order for this letter to be valid, it must be accompanied by a bank statement of the sponsor, no older than three months.
  • Proof of paid visa fee.  €60 for adults and €35 for children from 6 to 12 years old.
