  • The Indian student visa is given to bona fide Nigerians who wish to pursue regular studies at a recognized institution in India.
  • India’s higher education system is highly centralized and undergoing large changes since its inception in 1947. Largely based upon the British system of education, educational policy is ever-developing.
  • Foreigners who do not wish to go on to tertiary education, can enroll at privately-owned vocational schools that specialize in just one or only a few courses. 
  • An Indian student visa is a multiple entry visa and it's valid for 3 months to 5 years.
  • The Indian student visa is valid for the period of study as approved by the educational institution in India.
  • The visa duration starts on the day of issuance, and not on the day of entry into India.
  • A provisional visa may be issued if the applicant is yet to receive an official admission letter from the university.
  • A provisional visa is valid for 3 months. If admission is not given or confirmed within the stipulated period, the student will have to leave India.
  • Extension of a provisional student visa is not allowed.
  • Almost every university in India has accommodation facilities for all its students. International students can also book their accommodation after being admitted to their desired course or University.
  • In comparison to many other countries, accommodation at Indian universities is cheap. Living cost varies from place to place depending upon the university and the city. 
  • Students also have the option of working part time along with their studies.
  • Tuition fees range from 400 USD in government aided institutes offering basic under graduate courses going up to 3000 USD in certain private or deemed universities offering specialized courses and more

  • A Nigerian passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have2 blank pages for visa stamp.
  • Duly completed and signed visa application form.
  • If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
  • Passport-size photographs (2 x 2” dimension) taken in a light background.
  • Travel document.
  • Proof of financial support
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Copy of return flight ticket
  • Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country, e.g. verification from applicant’s employer.
  • A police report showing the traveler does not have a criminal record.
  • Medical Insurance.
  • Documentation confirming the purpose of travel.
  • Copy of travel itinerary.
