The Cayman Islands is a Caribbean island country consisting of three islands; Grand Cayman (the biggest), Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. It is a British overseas territory. It's capital is the city of George Town. It is not the most famous Caribbean nation but is one of the most stunning places in the world with exquisite marine waters and superb diving and snorkeling experiences especially in Grand Cayman.

The Cayman Islands is sunny and humid all year round but is generally cooler at night when breeze blows off the waters. There is occasional rainfall throughout the year but it rains most during the summer. Hurricane season lasts from June to November and April offers the best weather conditions for visitors.

Traditional Caymanian cuisine is very much influenced by Jamaican and British cuisine. The major ingredients in Caymanian cuisine are coconut, plantain, cassava, yams, rice and peas along with Jamaican spices such as jerk, curry and other exotic seasonings. Fruits and vegetables such as squash, avocados, callaloo, cassava, spring onions and pineapples are also commonplace.

Some fascinating locations in the Cayman Islands are:
  • Seven Mile Beach: This is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean with its flour soft sands, turquoise waters and coconut and palms lining the beach. It is a great site for swimming, diving, sun bathing, etc. It is situated on West Bay Road, Grand Cayman.
  • Stingray City: The shallow waters of this site are filled with stingrays. If you are afraid of these animals, this is the perfect place to rid yourself of all or a very substantial amount of that fear by either swimming/snorkeling in the waters and experiencing the animals up close or feeding them from the land.
  • George Town: This city is most alive when cruise ships arrive in its ports. The shops lining the city are duty-free, this makes it a perfect place to shop and visit the art galleries. The shops are colourful gingerbread buildings along the harbour front.
  • Atlantis Submarines: If you want to visit the bed of the ocean and witness its beauties without getting wet, the 48-passenger submarines are the way to go. You can see the tropical fish and even archaeological sites whilst peering through the windows of the submarine.

There are a number of festivals and events in the Cayman Islands the most prominent of which is the Pirates Week Festival. This festival lasts a whole week and holds in November. It features pirate costume competitions, music and dance as well as parade, swimming and boating competitions.
