  • Virtually all countries in Africa require a visa in order to travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • All visitors to Bosnia and Herzegovina must carry a valid passport. The passport must be valid for at least three months past your planned date of departure.
  • Visitors traveling with funds exceeding 10,000 euros or equivalent must declare it on arrival to the country.
  • Applicants are required to submit a police report from their local police department certifying they have no criminal record. This report must be issued within 6 months of the application.
  • Airlines may deny boarding to travelers on a one-way ticket or a ticket with a return date beyond three months from the date of arrival.  Applicants are advised to verify with the airline before travel.
  •  Visa applicants need to submit an invitation letter from a family member or host living in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This letter should clearly state the address and contact details of the host, as well as your relationship with them.
  •  During the visa application, you will need to provide proof of sufficient funds to last the duration of your stay.
  • You are advised to exit the country before your visa expires. You may need to submit a document that shows you have the incentive of returning to your country at the end of your stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • Applicants intending to stay for more than 90 days must apply for a temporary residence permit from the local field office of the Department for Foreigners of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Ministry of Security.
  • The process of getting a TRP (Temporary Residence Permit) is complex. You are advised to gather the required documentation well in advance and submit the application as soon as you arrive the country.
  • You must submit your temporary residence permit application at least 15 days prior to the expiration of the initial 90-day visa.
