Visa from Nigeria to Uganda

  • The visa policy in Uganda provides that Nigeria can obtain a visa on arrival into the country.
  • This visa on arrival which cost $50 enables citizens of Nigeria to stay for a period of 30 days.
  • Visitors who stay beyond the stay duration without applying for an extension will be fined $30 each day.
  • Intending visitors are required to have a passport valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of entry in Uganda. The passport should have at least two blank pages for visa stamping.
  • Nigerians are to provide proof of yellow fever vaccination on arrival in Uganda.
  • Citizens of Nigeria travelling to Uganda must provide proof of a confirmed means of accommodation for their entire stay in Uganda. This could be in the form of a hotel reservation or a sponsor letter from a host living in the country.
  • A return ticket to Nigeria or onward destination is needed as well.
  • Intending visitors can get to Uganda from any international airport in Nigeria. There are international airports in Lagos and Abuja.
  • RwandAir, Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airways are some of the airlines that fly from Nigeria to Uganda.
  • The estimated flight time from Lagos to Kampala, Uganda is 8 hours, 50 minutes and from Abuja, it is 9 hours, 30 minutes.
  • The religion demography in Uganda is divided into indigenous religions, Islam, and Christianity. However, Christianity is the most practised religion in the country.
  • The Ugandan shilling is the official currency used in Uganda. Visitors can visit banks and exchange outlets in the country to exchange their foreign currencies.
  • Uganda has a warm tropical climate. The dry season is from June to August, and from December to February, while the rainy season is from March to May and September to November.
  • English and Swahili are the official languages of Uganda. However, there are forty native languages in Uganda, which can be grouped into three main language families: Bantu, Central Sudanic, and Nilotic. 
  • The power and socket plug used in Uganda are of G. The standard voltage is 240 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.
  • Tourists are advised to budget about $30 to spend on daily expenses while in Uganda.
  • Uganda uses East Africa Time (GMT+3), which puts Uganda 2 hours ahead of Nigeria.
  • Bwindi National Park, Kibale Forest National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park are some of the tourist sites tourists can visit during their to Uganda.
  • Movement in Uganda is possible with buses, trains and taxis.
