Tourist Visa from Nigeria to Tonga
- A visitor’s visa is required for tourist visits to Tonga.
- A visa is required even for persons intending to the Vava'u Islands—a well-visited Island group in Tonga.
- For visitors traveling by sea, the master of the yacht will need to submit a one-way yacht letter/clearance prior to their arrival.
- The immigration authorities must be satisfied that the visitor has adequate funds for the visit before entry is granted.
- Relevant health certificates may also be required.
- Tourist permits specifically prohibit working in Tonga. Foreigners intending to do some business while in the country will need a different kind of visa.
- Officially, you must get a work permit from the immigration office. This is usually complex and takes time.
- The following requirements are needed to process a work permit:
- A specific offer of employment
- Filled and signed application with the immigration office
- Police report from your home country
- Evidence of skills and qualifications
- Details of your references
- Visa extensions are possible. To extend your visa, you have to contact the Immigration Department office in Neiafu situated at Tonga Development Bank building 1st floor, or call them on (676) 71142 or (676) 71149.
- Arrive the airport on time. Airlines advise minimum check-in times of 2 hours before international departures. Late check-in can result in being denied boarding.
