Student Visa from Nigeria to Iceland
- Nigerians looking to travel to Iceland for the purpose of studying in one of the institutions in the country can apply for the Icelandic student visa.
- Before you apply for a student visa, you must ensure you have been accepted into one of the institutions of your choice in the country before applying for visa.
- Students will need to apply for a residence permit before arriving in Iceland. This can be done by contacting the Directorate of Immigration in Iceland or by notifying the nearest Icelandic embassy.
- When you have arrived in Iceland, it is important that you apply for a Kennitala (an Icelandic ID/social security number). This is used for every day matters, such as opening a bank account.
- Letter of acceptance from the institution in Iceland is required. This is proof that you can attend lectures and write exams at school.
- If you are given a scholarship, you must provide the letter of sponsorship from the body that awarded the scholarship to you.
- Students are required to provide travel medical insurance with coverage of at least 30,000 Euros.
- Proof of financial support in the form of bank statements must be provided. Students are required to have at least 1,434 Euros per month.
- Student visas in Iceland are flexible enough to allow students to apply for a work permit while they are engaged in their studies. Students are allowed to work 20 working hours per week.
