Visa from Nigeria to Chad

  • According to the visa policy of Chad, Nigerians hoping to visit the country do not require a visa for stays of up to 90 days. 
  • Visitors can also extend their stay beyond the 90-day validity by applying to the immigration department in Chad.
  • Citizens of Nigeria must have a passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Chad. The passport must have at least two blank pages.
  • Visitors are also expected to have an onward or return tickets and any other documents pertinent to their next destination.
  • Nigerians visiting Chad also need to provide proof of yellow fever vaccination.
  • An airport tax of  XAF 5,000 and a security tax of  XAF 3,000 is levied on tourist when exiting Chad. Students and Diplomatists are exempt from this tax. 
  • Nigerians visiting Chad with pets must be accompanied by a veterinarian good health certificate issued at point of origin and a rabies vaccination certificate is also required.
  • Mandatory police registration is required for all visitors within 72 hours of arrival.
  • There are no direct flights options available from Nigeria to N'Djamena, Chad, travelling from Lagos however, will require one stopover, while flights from Abuja would require two.
  • Intending visitors can get to N'Djamena, Chad from any international airport in Nigeria. There are international airports in Lagos and Abuja.
  • ASKY, Air Cote D'Ivoire and EgyptAir are some of the carriers that fly from Nigeria to Chad.
  • The estimated flight duration from Lagos to N'Djamena, Chad is 7 hours, 25 minutes and 1 hour, 40 minutes from Abuja.
  • While Chad is home to diverse religious demography,  Islam is currently the religion practised by a vast majority of Chad’s population.
  • The time zone currently in use in Chad is the West Africa Standard Time ( GMT+1 ), the same as Nigeria.
  • Moving around in Chad is possible with the various public means of transportation available, this includes minibuses - as there are no trains in Chad, it is the most convenient way to get around N'Djamena-, Chad taxis, car rentals and domestic flights.
  • The power and socket plug used in Chad are of Type D and F. The standard voltage is 220 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.
  • Chad has a hot and tropical climate, the southern rainy season is from May-October, and the central rains from June-September. The north has very little rain all year. The dry season is often windy, and cooler during the evenings.
  • The best time to visit Chad is from the dry season months of November to May, you will enjoy spectacular game viewing opportunities during this period.
  • Chad has two official languages, French and Modern Standard Arabic, and over 120 indigenous languages.
  • Jarret de boeuf, La Bouillie and Esh are common dishes in Chad that tourists can try out.
  • In business and trade situations, Chadian Arabic is often used as a lingua franca. In N'Djamena, the capital city, some people will speak English as well as French and Arabic; however, it is advised to learn basic phrases in French and Arabic to help navigate communication with the people.
