Young and Broke? 3 Reasons You’ll Love Oshogbo

Osogbo rail If you’re young and broke, have no fear because there’s a city perfect for you, and you probably guessed right from the title – Oshogbo. You might think that sounds like a bore, but locals and those who thrive in the socio-economic space swear by it. The coolest things in life are not necessarily wrapped in expensive parcels; all you’ll need to enjoy this city is contentment to have comfort and ease.

osogbo-railway-stationThe capital city of Osun, Oshogbo lies in the heartland of Yorubaland culturally and geographically. The culturally rich city is internationally renowned for playing host to the annual Osun-Oshogbo festival. Here are three reasons why young people just getting started should consider settling in Oshogbo:

Cost of Living

Oshogbo is among the few cities in Nigeria where the cost of living perfectly suits the young and broke. The cost of living of any place relatively tends to be more important than the standard of living. Oshogbo leaves room to conveniently get by with enough money left over to splurge a little. To this, the city has a high volume of inexpensive food options unlike the neck-breaking prices in Lagos and Abuja. With cheap food comes easy and cheap transportation around the city. There are many taxis on the major roads where they do not cram too many people, and they charge less. Basically, it isn’t that necessary to own a car in Oshogbo.

Oshogbo has a wide range of inexpensive housing, so you can buy or rent your dream apartment with average income and higher. Now, that sounds like a deal!

Valuable Environment for Startups

A lot of people may have a preconceived notion that great businesses don’t really have a chance of thriving in Oshogbo. However, there’s a gleam of possibilities suffused in the city’s socio-economic space. Trail-blazing is the habit of successful enterprises. This is a location where services can flourish in achieving the intrinsic end; solving problems.

One of the very few Nigerian cities with a different story when it comes to constant electricity is Oshogbo. Rejoice! Generators are usually for backup. This is one big challenge almost off the list for startups. The people top off all the aforementioned factors that make Oshogbo a valuable environment for startups. They are peace loving and friendly sorts.

Economic Potentials

There is a wave of small businesses per capita and a strengthening job market that is friendly to the young and broke. Foreign investors are beginning to develop a soft spot for the city and its neighbourhoods in setting up industries to expand and strengthen sectors. The favorable power supply is a boost for industries as well.

With the tourist attractions, a welcoming social inclination, and undoubted economic potentials, I guess being young, broke, and probably single in Oshogbo isn’t hopeless after all.
