We did a few posts a while back on team bonding ideas for Nigerian companies, especially now that the holidays are here. We've breezed through a couple of ideas that tilt towards extreme sports and other adrenaline-popping and exhilarating activities that you could partake in.

While there may never be a shortage of recreational ideas, at what point is an activity too extreme to partake in? How far is too far? Would you go Storm Chasing or is that a total no-no for you?

What is Storm Chasing?

Stormchasing

Storm Chasing is literally the pursuit (or chasing) of an extreme weather condition - a thunderstorm, tornado, tsunami, etc - for reasons of curiosity, adventure, fun and other personal reasons.

People who are involved in storm chasing are called storm chasers or chasers.

I know what you're thinking, "why in the world would I want to do that? I cannot come and go and die all in the name of fun!"

Good point.

Well, storm chasing is a pretty solid recreational activity among lots of people who get off on extreme sports. They do it for the thrill and the adrenaline rush, mostly. kind of like how people go Bungee jumping - uber scary and uber fun.

Is it a Lucrative Venture?

You should think people who grab cameras and run against the crowd and towards a storm or tornado would be getting some payment for it, right? Well, not exactly.

With the exception of TV media crews, researchers, meteorologists and photographers who do it on a professional basis, storm chasers are generally not paid to chase. Some end up selling their clips to media houses for a profit though, but many do it for fun.

What You Need to Go Storm Chasing

Basically, all one needs a good camera and other photographic equipment. Some go the whole way though, packing a truck fitted with satellite systems for tracking weather and other high gear. Also, it helps to know where the next storm is going to break and how long it would be for.

Is it Safe?

Storm chasing is an extreme sport, so safety concerns are pretty steep. You will be chasing hazardous weather, for starters, so will be in danger of lightning, thunderstorms, tornadoes and the likes. But if this doesn't deter you still, storm chasing might be a good thing for you then.
