Water Bodies You May Not Know Of In Nigeria

Beaches and waterfalls are some of the places tourists love visiting. Trust Nigerians, they are often so crazy about these beaches that they’re usually clustered with people. Lagos Bar Beach is often the first name that comes to mind when people talk about beaches. There are so many other beaches and water bodies that are relatively unknown to most Nigerians. Here are some cool ones:

Maiyegun Beach

The Maiyegun beach is in Lagos. Actually, it is situated in the Maiyegun Tourism Zone in Oti Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State. Those in Lagos may know this beach, but it isn’t as famous as Bar Beach. It is here that the Lekki Sunsplash Musical Concert is held. There is a plan to change this beach to a five-star resort. You can come here to take pre-wedding pictures or even have a nice picnic with friends.

Pategi Beach

Pategi Beach is situated on the River Niger bank. It has a long stretch of sand where you can stroll with your partner or kids. For those who are looking for a vacation close to a waterfront, this is where you should come to. Pategi Beach has the Regatta Complex and Regetta Pavillon. These are facilities that would make this beach a better than normal experience.

Owu Waterfalls

Owu waterfalls is a 120-meter waterfall that forms a chill pool at its bottom. There is evergreen vegetation that surrounds the waterfall. It is located in in Owa Kajola, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. You can spend a whole day watching this fall, listen to different birds sing, or enjoy other wildlife activities.

Gurara Waterfalls

Gurara falls is a little distance away from Minna, Niger State. It is along the Minna-Suleja route. Coming here is not disappointing, and there are a lot of things that can grab your attention. The Gurara River is another site of attraction for those who would want to swim. It is another arm of River Niger. You can only swim here during the dry season when the water has reduced and is clear.

Assop Falls

Last on our list is the Assop Falls. It is our last secret because it would keep you in awe and give you that excitement that comes from seeing an amazing natural wonder. To make this place even more blissful, there are local houses that you lodge at.

You may be surprised to hear the names of these water bodies in Nigeria. There are many more that could shock you, especially the ones that are close to you. Do you know any water bodies close to you? Tell us if we did not mention it here.
