Terrorism: Two Names Linked With Half The World's Deaths
The Institute for Economics and Peace in a report yesterday announced that the number people killed in global terrorist attacks spiked by 80%, the highest level ever recorded to date.
 Boko Haram and ISIS Climb Terrorism Ranks
According to the Global Terrorism Index, 32,658 people were killed last year, as compared to the 18,111 from 2013.
Of these deaths, Nigeria’s Boko Haram sect accounts for more than half.
Steve Killelea, the executive chairman of the Institute of Economics and Peace, said “terrorism is gaining momentum at an unprecedented pace.â€
Although Iraq appears to be the most affected country (with 9,929 deaths from terrorists), Nigeria has the highest rise in fatalities, with the deaths experiencing a 300% surge to 7,512.
