Tourist Activities that Make Akwa Ibom A Must Visit

The story of Akwa Ibom’s tourism has become so fascinating that more visitors are trooping to see what  really is in this state. With so many developments, there are more places to have a great time. It has become a modern metropolis in the country. The roads are well paved and gardens are planted to make it eco-friendly. There are beaches you can visit when you are in the state. The hotels are built to meet everyone’s budget, which means that accommodation is affordable here.

Coming to Akwa Ibom during the festive period is something you wont regret because of the many activities lined up for you to enjoy. Security is tight and the people are hospitable. Over the years, there has been a massive transformation in the state. You can see sprawling enclaves of beautiful water fountains and walkways, viewing centers on the streets, sassy shops and luxury homes.

Ibeno Beach

Ibeno BeachOne of the prettiest places to go for sightseeing and hiking is the Ibeno Beach. You can sunbathe here and do a lot of water activities. The sandy shore of the beach stretches over two kilometers and it is one of the longest beaches in West Africa.

For the night owls, this is one state that competes strongly with mega cities such as Port Harcourt and Lagos. Calabar is not far away which makes it more exciting at night. The clubs here are quick to get you on the dance floor. You can jump from one club to another until day break, especially during holidays and weekends.

The Culture

You would not miss the rich culture of the people. The cultural heritage is scattered uniquely in the state’s villages. Ikot Ekpene is one of such places where you will see a lot of artifacts, monuments, beads, crafts, pottery and lots more.

Local Delicacies

If afang soup doesn’t indulge you in the state’s cuisine, then perhaps plantain and bush meat would. People bond over the rich food here.

The Cost of Living

Akwa Ibom state is not expensive depending on what you want to do in the state. Uyo, the capital city may be a little on the pricey side, but there are other cities in the state where you can actually spend less and have more fun.
