Owerri, what a town, it is our very own sin city, if you are ever in doubt about the legitimacy of that claim, all you have to do is to look out for the many chains of hotels and Lounges and you will see that no other city compares. Aside the hospitality and party mindset, Owerri is also home to some of the finest local cuisines in the country. Here’s a list of locations you must visit to try out the taste of the east.

MIMI'S PLACE

First off, you need to check out Mimi’s place, they have a wide array of local dishes to give your taste buds that wonderful sensation, from soups to Nkwobi, they have a rich menu. Located at, Plot 5046, beside All Seasons hotel, New Owerri capital Territory, Owerri. Can’t make it that far? Don’t worry, they do Home Delivery.

NWANYI ANAMBRA

Remember how I told you that there’s an array of the best local cuisine in Owerri? This place only appraises this truth, visit Nwanyi Anambra for your favourite Anambra cuisine, I especially recommend the Ofe Nsala, just keep a glass of water handy. Located at 104, Njiribeako Street, Church Road, Owerri Municipal, Imo State, Nigeria.

IBARI OGWA

You will not find a place with more Igbo delicacies than at Ibari Ogwa Entertainment centre, you eat virtually anything you want and all you have to do is point at it. I wonder what can beat the thrill of Ugba and Goat meat pepper soup while you listen to that beautiful live band music. Located at, Emma Ugorji Street, Owerri. It is quite conspicuous

FISH ISLAND

Yes! I’m pretty sure you guessed it, seafood for the soul. I love seafood, so I’m going to recommend the catfish pepper soup from Fish Island; it’s a finger licking experience that would give you a new found love for food from the sea (assuming you don’t already have that love). AFRICAN CHEF

This is the home of all things African in the eastern heartland, they have a wide range of native soups to pick from, and believe me they are as tasty as they come to mind, and you should check them out. You can find them at 19, Oparaugo Street, Owerri Municipal, Imo, Nigeria

JEVINIK RESTAURANT

Eating in owerri cannot be complete without a visit to Jevinik, they have an array of mouth-watering local dishes that it is almost impossible to avoid this location of spicy heaven. Before you take anything however, you should indulge in their ishiewu, I won’t say anything other than that. Just find you way to, #19 Umez Eronini street, Ikenegbu , Owerri, Imo State.

Owerri has so many other places to enjoy that finger licking experience, but these by far have to be the top priority, that is if you love food like we do. Enjoy!
