We have something for the bookworms in Nigeria. Libraries can be boring most times because of how quiet they are. In Nigeria, there are a lot of libraries, especially university libraries that are frequented by thousands of students around the country. Every university library may claim to be one of the best. In no particular order, we have listed some of the top libraries without prejudice.

Covenant University, Ota (CU) Library

There is no denying that Covenant University stands out among universities in the country even though it is a private university. It is among the largest libraries in Africa, and is dubbed the “Centre for Learning Resources” (CLR). It stands out in technological advancement due to its electronic cataloging. You can be in any part of the globe and pull up content. This is a feat a lot of Nigerian universities are yet to achieve.

University Of Nigeria, Nsukka (Nnamdi Azikiwe Library)

This library started with twelve thousand volumes of books which have increased to over 700,000, and close to 100,000 bound volumes of journals. It is an old library maintained and frequented by a lot of Nigerians. Even the international organizations have collections here as well.

Babcock University Library

Babcock University Library opened in 1959. It was the first Nigerian university that established a good relationship with a United States university. The owners – Seventh-day Adventist Church, doesn’t spare any money to ensure the university is taken good care of.

University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) Library

University of Ilorin library was started in 1976. It has become a popular library with different reading formats. You can watch video or listen to audio educational materials here. It is a pride among neighbouring school libraries. You can come here and do your research, or even read newspapers.

Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife (OAU) Library

The famous Obafemi Awolowo’s library can hold up to 800 people. There are over 250,000 books, not to talk about bounded journals. You will feel at home with the quietness of the surroundings and the art exhibitions on the wall that make the library feel friendlier.

Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Library

Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Library has been named ‘Nimbe Adedipe Library’ to honour the first Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Nurudeen Olorunnimbe Adedip. It can comfortably sit a thousand readers at a time.
