Things To Do In Gombe

Gombe is the ‘Jewel in the Savannah’ of Nigeria. It is a peaceful and beautiful city situated in the Northeastern side of Nigeria. A lot of people who come here arrive with a lot off expectations. There are lots of places to stay here if you want an exceptional holiday or even weekends. There is a festival called the Pissi Tangle Cultural – one of the finest in the country. Coming here would let you experience pomp and pageantry in the city of Gombe.

The Emirs Palace

Alright, you may have seen a lot of palaces in the country, but the Emirs Palace in Gombe is one palace that beautifully blends architectural design and royalty. Annually, the Durbar festival attracts thousands of visitors to it. If you are lucky to meet the festival, you would enjoy the horse rides and dances that come with it.

The Tangele Hill

Tangele Hill is an enchanting volcanic hill that would make your heart skip a few times before you get used to it. You can hike here and have a special moment with friends. You should definitely bring a camera along, because this is one spot for stunning pictures.

The Kilang Hill

Kilang Hill in Popandi, Gombe is another hill you should visit. The surroundings of this hill are beautiful and would let you hike with ease. This is only the second hill and doesn’t mean hiking is the only exciting thing you can do in Gombe.

The Tula Battlefield

It was in Tula Battlefield the Colonial masters attacked Tula under the command of Calyle. History would tell you more than we can if you meet locals who are willing to chat up with you. A lot of wars were fought here, and ancient battle grounds are littered here and there. Take for instance the Bormi Battle site where Major F.C Mach and the Sultan Bajoga fought

The Bima Rock

This rock is located in a village called Dadin Kowa It is a huge rock that’s one of the hottest spots to take pictures. There are other places you can visit, like the tomb of Bubayero Gombe Abba. He founded the Gombe Sukku Local Government Area Emirate – a popular national monument in the country.

You can eat local delicacies that are rich and healthy in any of the joints around Gombe. There are fruits you can enjoy, and don’t forget the local drinks loved by everyone who ever tasted them.
