If you thought trees were compulsorily 'transfixed', well, think again.

These walking palm trees are not as eerie as they sound, but they do move across the forest- and they do it daily!

The trees move in the direction of the growth of their new roots and can move up to 2 or 3 cms per day.

According to Peter Vrsansky, a paleobiologist of the Earth Science Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences Bratislava:

“As the soil erodes, the tree grows new, long roots that find new and more solid ground, sometimes up to 20m.”

The tragedy is that these trees are not running fast enough from human predators - and deforestation is ruining the beautiful Ecuador wildlife.
