The cenotaph, Lokoja

The cenotaph situated along the Murtala Muhammed Way in Lokoja is a war armorial erected in remembrance of the fallen heroes of both the British and Nigerian officers who fought in the first and second world wars of 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 respectively. The names of Nigerian soldiers who fought the two world wars are written on a plague. Significantly, the Nigerian Army marks its Remembrance Day which is January 15 at this spot.
